THE EASTERN LIGHTHOUSE The old lighthouses on the whitby piers are both haunted. The lighthouse on the west pier has been open to the public and alot of people have seen the ghost of a local man who lost his life on the cliffs he fell over the edge and his arm was off when he was found.

The eastern lighthouse has never been open to the public,but two brothers one summer noticed a seventeen year old girl by the name of Sylvia Swales .Both tried to court her and she was flattered by there atractions.Her father decided which one she would marry Her father set a boat race for them to do the first to come back takes her hand.They both set out to sea and on there return they bith hit a bad wave which turned there boats upside down .Both brothers were washed out to sea and died there bodies were found on saltwick Nab two days later.

Sylvia never married and always blamed herself for there deaths.She stood for hours everyday at the end of the pier just staring out to sea. Even today Sylvia still haunts the pier still staring out to sea as she did years ago.Eastcoast | Eastcoast | Eastcoast |
