These are found in numerous houses up and down the British Isles. Each case is slightly different, but in all instances the hauntings are reactive: they do nothing until the skull involved is affected in some way that it objects to.

Skulls of this sort have been known to affect crops, cause diseases or produce screams whenever they are moved from the building in which they reside. The disturbances cease only when the skull is returned to its home, at which point the haunting becomes dormant again.
