Dowsing pendulums are used in a different way to dowsing rods. The pendulum must be held completely still in one hand so that it does not sway or move in any direction. The dowser then concentrates on telling the pendulum to spin in a circular movement to indicate a ‘Yes’ answer.

Then the dowser tells the pendulum to stop, at which point it should stop almost instantly. The dowser then asks the pendulum to sway from left to right this being a ‘No’ answer. Once the dowser has trained the pendulum, it can be used to answer questions about a location’s history or hauntings. Another use of the dowsing pendulum is to walk around a location while simultaneously asking the pendulum to spin when it crosses a ley line or psychic epicentre. Some mediums use a pendulum to dowse answers and others to dowse locations. Either way is useful and can add a great sense of fun to a ghost hunt.
