Ivan T. Sanderson, a biologist and writer on the paranormal, told how he was once driving on the island of Haiti with his wife and an assistant when their car ran into mud and become absolutely stuck. The trio were therefore forced to walk for many hours until suddenly Sanderson saw houses lining the sides of the road in what appeared to be a medieval French street. He could even see shadows being cast by the moon at the correct angle in relation to the position of the buildings he was looking at. Sanderson claimed to know that this was a Parisian street scene.
Sanderson’s wife also described exactly what Sanderson him self saw, suggesting that if it was a shared delusion it was an incredibly precise one. Otherwise they must both have seen something authentic in front of them.
The assistant, however, plodded right on through the scene, seeing nothing whatsoever. It was while they were lighting cigarettes offered by the assistant that they realised the image of the buildings had faded around them and they were back in their remote location.
