Joan Forman An unnamed Yeoman warder was on duty in the Byward Tower, the main entrance to the Tower of London, when he looked up and was astonished to see four or five Beefeaters, apparently from a much earlier period in time, seated around the log fire smoking pipes. The whole room was quite altered in appearance, and it was only when the warder came back into the room after briefly going out that he found the scene had reverted to the normal situation and the present day.
