Georgian House

In October 1926 Miss Ruth Wynne and fourteen-year-old Miss Ailington walked from Rougham to look at the church in the nearby village of Bradfield St George. They walked through a farmyard and as they approached the road they could see on the other side an old brick wail surrounding a Georgian-style house with large trees in its garden.
<
In a letter dated 11 March 1934 (thus some seven and a half years after the event) Miss Wynne described the house as having a stucco front and Georgian-style windows. Some four months after the October 1926 walk both Miss Wynne and Miss Allington revisited the site but found neither the wall nor the house; indeed they tried to locate it several times and never succeeded.

In correspondence in February 1937 Miss Allington was unable to remember any details of the house, which seems therefore not to have impressed itself on her memory as strongly as on Miss Wynne’s. The house has not been located; even in 1963 Tony Cornell of the Society of Psychical Research was in the area looking for the house but could find no building which matched the house reported by the two women.
