Lanark is a busy market town in the south of central Scotlat The
Clydesdale Hotel is an old building in the town, built around the
end of the eighteenth century.
Long before the hotel was built, the site had been occupied bY Franciscan priory at some time in the fourteenth cennu In the lars of the hotel, staff have often repotred fee strange sensatb
like sensing a figure passing silently by in the darlcness, and hearing strange noises unrelated to the sounds of the hotel above them. The figure of a monk is also reputed to have been seen down there.
