A ghost`s need for electricity explains why some haunted locations have inexplicably high or fluctuating electricity bills. One such case occurred at Heol Fanog, a haunted farmhouse in the Brecon Beacons, where the rich family experienced a wealth of phenomena, including bills of up to £750 per quarter.

Witnesses often report electrical malfunctions in haunted houses, such as appliances switching themselves on or off and lights dimming and flickering of their own accord. Such occurrences are said to be due to the ghost or ghosts feeding off the electricity supply.
