In 1943, Fred was serving with the Army. He came down with a sore between my toes that would not heal. When Fred went to Sick Bay, the medics gave me medication which didn’t seem to help. The open sore only became larger after applying the salves and powders which were prescribed.
The doctors told Fred they minght have to amputate his leg because of gangreen setting in.As fred lay in his bunker he glanced towards the window, and there stood a soldier staring at him. He wore a helmet like those issued to soldiers of Britain, Australia and New Zealand during World War I.
The moon shone behind him. He smiled but said nothing. The next day fred whent and had his leg amputated he never saw the soldier again.
