In Taiwan, a bus company in Tainan, two hundred miles south of Taipei, has had to cancel its evening run to a remote village because frightened drivers are refusing to make the trip after dark due to a phantom passenger.

It seems that a part of the route passes through a plantation of tall, shadowy sugar cane fields. On one trip a driver picked up a young girl at' the spooky spot, only to discover she had vanished from the bus by the time he got to town.
