Insurance broker Barry Collings and his friend Stephen Pope were driving up Bluebell Hill, Chatham, in Kent, when they saw a girl standing by the side of the road. She had long blonde hair and wore a white evening-dress, which was in disarray, and carried a handbag.
There was a strong wind blowing, yet the girl's hair did not move, and she was perfectly still. At first they thought she was in trouble; then they decided she was a ghost and drove off.
In 1965, a bride-to-be and her three attendants were killed in a crash on the hill, since when there have been at least six accounts of the girl being given a lift. Once in the car, she vanished.
