A ghost was seen in 1904 who dated back to 1684.The witnesses were a group of schoolchildren going for a walk up mail pits hill accompanied by their teacher. All of the children described a tall wild looking man coming down towards them.
He wore a broad brimmed black hat and a long brown coat his clothes were muddy and torn. It was discovered that a man who had taken part in the battle of sedge moor had once lived in a cottage on the hill he was killed by army troopers as he greeted his wife and children.
