The local church has long been reputed to be haunted by a monk who plays the organ. In January 1967 the vicar, Canon Ernest Pitman, decided to end the story once and for all by placing a tape-recorder in the old church .
One night and locking the door. Next morning when he ran the tape, there were footsteps echoing through the empty church and loud and clear notes from the church organ -with banging noises that were not part of the traditional ghost story!
