The old fire station on Broadway is said to have a ghostly fireman, complete with brass helmet. Firewoman Penny White reported seeing this figure, thought to be Godfrey Netherwood, a fireman in the 1890s who was interested in ghosts and hauntings.
The same form was observed many times in the old building, but Penny White saw the figure under a stairway at the new fire station in Romford Road! A careful search revealed no explanation.
