Lyme Regis

Trent Manor House near Sherborne contains a hiding-place used by King Charles II. A legend tells of ghostly horses' hooves thundering past, on the old highway, on certain nights of the year.

They are said to have originated in the mysterious disappearance of a coach and horses, driver and passengers, who all vanished one dark and stormy night.

The Angel Inn, Lyme Regis, has many ghostly associations and the ghost of Judge Jeffreys walks at the Great House in Broad Street whenever the property is empty of human inhabitants.Bedfordshire | British Isles | Cornwall | Ghost in Cornwall | Howfield Manor | Penzance | Ramhurst | Sandford | Somerset |
